Hayes Instrument is a major laboratory for the testing, calibration, and repair of all types of “electrical, RF Electronics, Biotech/Medical, Temperature/Environmental, and Mechanical/Dimensional equipment.”  This means that Hayes Instrument is a major laboratory/manufacturer of specialized instruments used in the medical field, among many others.   This includes, since their strategic partnership took place in 2007, the Communications Test and Measurements tools.

The five major divisions of Hayes Instrument are all housed in the same facility, which is located in Massachusetts, in the New England States of the USA, on the Eastern Seaboard.  It was founded in 1979 as a primary standards laboratory.  This type of laboratory is responsible for developing and maintaining the standards used in all fields, including but not limited to fields like nuclear safety, medical instruments, (especially medical instruments like x-ray machines and the calibration on pressure gauges).  It is an important laboratory, doing things that relate to patient welfare, as well as more mundane (but potentially equally important) tasks like testing furnaces, ovens, and refrigerators.

This is one of the reasons behind their Quality policy, which promotes and maintains the twin goals of superior calibration and repair service coupled with excellence in customer service.  In pursuit of these goals, Hayes Instrument requires at least five years experience in order for their potential employees to apply for the jobs available.  Successful applicants will be given a very nice base salary, plus health, life, and disability insurance.  A matching 401(k) program and vacation and holiday pay are also available.  For those exceptional workers who insist on overtime, it too is available.  The only job that I found available at this time is that of metrology technician, and is an hourly, not a salaried, position.

Another way that Hayes Instrument pursues the policy of quality customer service is their policy of repairing instruments onsite, which minimizes disruption of the services provided by their customers.  They will also pick up and deliver sensitive instruments in their specially equipped vans, which are built to transport the customer's equipment safely.  To insure prompt and accurate pick-up and delivery, each driver carries both a cell phone and a two-way radio.
